Summary

View along Oxford Street, one of Manchester's principal streets, looking towards St. Peter's Church (since demolished). A horse-drawn tram going to Brooks's Bar is coming along the street, and a horse and cart are turning the corner towards Portland Street. The scene is busy with bowler-hatted men: this was a commercial district, and business names can be read on the buildings: 'Hum Photographers', 'T J Hooper, Pattern Card Maker', 'R H Sutton, Books Bought'.
