Murió la verdad (Truth has died)

Francisco Goya Y Lucientes 1746 - 1828

Summary

A woman lies prone at the bottom of the image, surrounded by shining light which radiates from her. Figures of monks and priests surround her in the shadows. A bishop stands at the centre, raising his right hand in blessing. A woman swoons to the right. To the left are monks with shovels, apparently preparing to bury the woman. There is a shadowy cross in the background.
