Summary

A portrait of a middle aged man in an ornate frame. The subject is facing to the right and seen in three-quarter profile. He wears tudor dress and is holding a medal in his left hand, which can be seen emerging from beneath his cloak. The base of the frame is decorated with a scene of a man being knighted. There is an axe, a cornucopia spilling out coins and a crown at the lower part of the decoration. The frame is inscribed "EDWARD SEYMOUR DUKE OF SOMERSET".
