Summary

A portrait of a sixteenth century cleric in an ornate frame. The subject is seen in profile facing to the left. The base of the frame is decorated with a cardinal's hat, a bishop's mitre, a crown and a staff with a cross. There is also a book and scroll at the bottom right corner. The frame is inscribed "CARDINAL WOLSEY".
