North view of the College.
Summary
View from the river Irk, Manchester, looking up at the buildings of Chetham's College on the left. The walls of the old stone college are dotted about with pairs of trefoil-arched windows, and tall chimneys rise from its roof. The river bends round to the right, out of sight behind a high wall on the right river bank. The water is low, and there is vegetation and debris in the river bed. This is a soft crayon lithograph in HG James' distinctive textured style.
