Summary
Double portrait of two men sitting at a table. The subject to the lower left is facing to the right and is seen in profile. He is looking down at a block held in his hands on the table. The second subject is at the upper centre right and is seen at the opposite side of the table, facing the viewer. He is looking down at a sheet of paper on the table in front of him. His left elbow is on the table and his left hand is held up to his chin. There is no background detail. From the series English Portraits 1897-1898 issued in twelve parts, each part containing two lithographs. This print is from Part IX. The edition was 750 but only a small number appeared due to many being destroyed in a fire at the binders.
