Summary

Landscape with mill on right hand and small wooden building with a red tile roof and torn flag hanging from a spike. Covered cart right of centre middle ground. To the right of the path in the foreground is a group of adults and children all wearing hats apart from a young child on left tugging at the adult females skirt. Donkey on far right being tended to by a man in uniform. On left is a fire with a child and dog running to the right, away form it. Two figures can be seen in the middle of the fire. Two uniformed figures on horseback ride along the path towards the foreground and more figures are behind, one of which lifts a child into the air whilst other children sit in a cart. Shelters can be seen in the distance with a hill and trees beyond.
