Summary

Portrait of an elderly man in an oval picture space. The subject has his left hand between the pages of a closed book and his right hand is gesturing towards the viewer with the palm held upward. He has a beard and wears a soft cap, a ruff collar and a fur trimmed cloak. Around and below the picture space are inscriptions in Dutch.
