South West View of Chetham's College

Charles Pye 1777 - 1864

Summary

A view of a courtyard surrounded by a long stone building. In the courtyard can be seen boys playing cricket: some wear britches, some wear the floor-length uniform of the College students. One boy holds a hoop. The courtyard itself is large and rather featureless: it dwarfs the tiny playing figures.
