The Town Hall, Manchester
Thomas Hosmer Shepherd 1793 - 1864
Summary
Corner view of a large stone building, the first Manchester Town Hall on King Street, which fills most of the image. From this viewpoint, the front of the building faces diagonally to the right. It has a grand entrance, which can be gained by going up some steps, and past, tall fluted columns with scrolled ionic tops. On the first floor on the left and right of the columns, is a niche with a statue in it. On the roof is a flag pole, from which flies a flag. Crowds of people can be seen in front of the building. On the right hand edge is a horse drawn carriage.
