Dispensation granted to the Miles Platting Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants
Summary
A Dispensation, granting authority to branches of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to carry out Society business. The printed text is illuminated with female personifications of Wisdom, Truth and Justice, and flanked by depictions of bearded male railway employees. Vignettes inset at the top show a railway station and a signal box. The engraved text and illustration is richly coloured, probably using woodblock printed coloured ink. The pre-printed date section to be filled in begins with a '19', which is confusing to this writer, as the document appears to date from the nineteenth century, not the twentieth. This Dispensation has been filled in with the name of the Miles Platting branch of the Society.
