A Roman Peasant Girl
Lord Frederic Leighton 1830 - 1896
Summary
A three-quarter length, head and chest portrait of a peasant girl in a white blouse with a decorative collar, under a red and gold bodice, laced up at the front, with a dark shawl draped over her shoulders. She has thick dark hair tied back off her face, a single curl falling across her forehead, with a small pale flower in her hair at the back of her head. Her head is tilted to the left of the picture and she gazes out in the same direction, her lips parted.
