Wooded Landscape with Cottage
William Henry Crome 1806 - 1873
Summary
A busy view painted from a clearing in dense woodland. On the right, a path extends into the forest with two figures on it. On either side in the middle ground, two structures can be seen amongst the trees, a cottage in the centre and another building on the far right. Spots of light shining through the canopy of trees punctuate the forest floor, and on the left side of the canvas, two more figures can be seen on another, less defined path that leads out of the forest. In the close foreground there is an almost submerged pond and in the far distance to the left, vague structures can be made out near the horizon.
