John Baverstock Knight 1785 - 1859

Summary

Freely drawn landscape sketch, showing a long, stone bridge with a number of arches spanning a wide river that sweeps in a curve across the foreground to the right of the composition. To the left is the far, tree-lined bank of the river, beyond which the open land rises towards a line of dense trees; visible above these trees is the roof and gable end of a tall building. The silhouetted forms of more buildings can be seen through the left arch of the bridge.
