Les Taupes (The Moles) 1854 Felix Bracquemond 1833-1914 Etching Bracquemond's interest in surface textures is evident with this treatment of animal pelts. The combination of aquatint and pierced marks, made with the etching needle, add a furry quality. Hatching and cross hatching create a variety of tones, for example on the tree on the background. The strong foreground was created by a longer bite, while the background was stopped out. Gift of Thomas Coglen Horsfall 1912.50
