Hastings
Summary
This is a coastal scene, looking towards the coast from the open sea. There are several boats in the foreground with both oars and small masts. Most of the boats have their sails furled and are carrying numerous figures. The waves are stormy and crested with white. To the right is a three masted ship and to the left foreground is a buoy. A coastal town can be seen at the base of hills in the background and some buildings at the top of the cliff.
