In the Air about 1917 Christopher Richard Wynne Nevinson 1889 - 1946 Lithograph Nevinson first flew in 1917 as an Official War Artist, creating some of the earliest aerial views of the land. Using a range of lithograph crayons, from hard to soft, Nevinson has delineated the different land uses below, scratching and dotting the fields to create textures. The wing of the plane to the right has been scratched to emphasise the effects of reflected light. The smooth appearance is typical of lithography. H W Nevinson bequest 1942.27
