Summary

Coastal scene with a ruined castle on a promontory in the background, overlooking a bay. Waves crash on to a beach in the foreground to the left where a group of figures crowd round a shipwreck to the left. A figure in uniform mounted on a horse stands beside the group. There are buildings at the foot of the cliff in the middle ground to the left. Reflections can be seen in the wet sand.
