Cobden Madonna Card

Summary

Folded card, inside, the two halves have images in them. On the left, shows an image of some ears of corn with the signature of "Richard Cobden" on it. On the right is a monument. At the top is a Madonna with child, either side, in the background is a winged angel, either side are two figures holding a waist height shield shaped form. Underneath is Latin text. On the front of the card is printed "With Mr. & Mrs. Fisher Unwin's Best Wishes". On the back is printed an extract from "Venice and Its Story" by T.Okey that describes the introduction of corn laws in Venice and the location of the Cobden Madonna in the Ducal Palace in Venice.
