Old House, Cheltenham

John Barnett 1914 - 2003

Summary

Thickly painted view depicting a row of old houses on a street corner in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. The composition uses oils in shades of brown and white to convey the age of the dwellings, each with smoking chimneys rising up into the cloud filled sky. Two figures beside a single tree and street lamp can be seen on the far left, walking along the pavement, looking in the direction of the houses.
