Summary

A view of Durham Cathedral, seen through surrounding trees from the river below. A few small houses are on the banks either side of the river, a group of cattle are drinking on right bank beneath the cathedral. Two small boats are on the river to the left, loaded down with hay. The city visible by the bridge in the background.
