French Landscape

Troin

Summary

Brightly painted, rural and somewhat atypical French landscape, looking across ploughed fields in foreground to the left, towards a farmhouse with exotic palm trees in the centre background. Tall bank of trees in foreground to the right, with hills in the distance to the left. The lush vegetation and decorative mark-making seem to refer more to exotic locations, nevertheless the ploughed fields and farmhouse reference pastoral France. The style of painting is simple with bold mark-making and some areas of block colour.
