Moorings at Kew
Summary
A stylised view of sailing boats of different shapes and sizes moored at Kew The colour of the water changes through blues, browns and greys, punctuated by the yellows on the boats. Although born and educated in Germany, from 1930 Hans Tisdall's career as an artist and designer was spent in London where he also taught at the Central school of Art and Craft from 1948. Though his Fitzroy Street studio was next door to Vaness Bell and Duncan Grant of the Bloomsbury group of artists, Tisdall followed his own artistic path which led him to focus on the subject of boats in water. Here it is the boats moored at Kew in south London.
