Barton

Barton

Summary

A view of the Barton aqueduct, where the Bridgewater canal crosses over the river Irwell. There is a barge in the left foreground, passing through the lock on the Irwell navigation. On the acqueduct the top part of another boat can also be seen. The right foreground is mostly an earth bank, with a few passers by relieving the empty ground. To the left and in the distance, on the other side of the river, is a warehouse building, and other smaller buildings, including churches and houses.
