Summary

View along the Bridgewater Canal from Dr.White's Bridge near Mr.Brogden's, Sale Moor, Manchester. The canal tails off to the right before turning sharply left towards Manchester, visible in the distance with Stretford Church clearly distinguishable between the trees. A row of tall poplars to the left, above wide open fields with grazing cattle. To the right a steam engine is running along tracks parallel to the canal. A single barge moves along the canal, pulled by two ponies up ahead, two more in the foreground to left pulling the next (unseen) barge.
