Window, Florence

Keith Baynes 1887 - 1977

Summary

A landscape and domestic interior painting depicting open shutter doors inviting the viewer to look beyond the balcony and out on to the Florentine landscape. The interior windows are detailed in brown wood, there is a light brown drawn-curtain to the right side of the painting. The paintwork is bold and simplistic, showing mainly form and shape and little detail through a very direct painting style. The landscape depicts anonymous buildings with aspects of the scene highlighted in yellow and green.
