Summer's Eve

David Farquharson 1839 - 1907

Summary

A view of a meandering river underneath a late, hazy summer afternoon sky. There are groups of trees on the left bank, and farm workers walking along the river's edge, one with scythe over his shoulder. A small boat loaded with hay is on the river. The colours are reminiscent of the landscape during the summer months: light brown tones, yellows and oranges.
