Summary

Scene inside a factory. A woman is on her knees attending to a machine, behind her can be seen round, tall bales of thin wire which are being fed into another machine. During 1974, Johnson & Nephew decided to become more involved in community life in the Manchester area. As part of this programme they sponsored artist Geoffrey Key to capture the everyday scenes in the Rod and Wire Mill. The result was a series of five limited edition lithographs titled 'Men of Steel'. The series was produced under the direction of Colin Jellicoe Gallery, Manchester. This print is one of the lithographs from this series. 6/35.
