Summary

A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Giovanni Battista Piranesi. The drawing is of architectural ruins. Some figures are reclining at the base of the columns. To the left is a statue of a figure in front of a more complete building. In the background is a bridge and a spire structure, and what appear to be two statues of figures on horseback. Another sketch can be seen faintly beneath the main drawing. Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society: "No. 12 GIOVANNI BATTISTA PIRANESI (b. 1720; d. 1778) COMPOSITION WITH A MEDLEY OF RUINED ARCHITECTURE British Museum, 1908-6-16-38. From the collection of Dr. John Gott, Bishop of Truro. 24.2 x 37 cm. (9 1/2 x 14 9/16 in.). Pen and Indian ink, and Indian ink wash, over another slight sketch in black chalk, with touches of red chalk."
