Summary

Portrait of prominent Irish politician Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847); MP for Dublin City and Cork County; known as the Liberator. After one of Duval's earliest portraits. Duval was commissioned by Mr. Daniel Lee to paint a life-size portrait for which O'Connell granted only one sitting of two and a half hours. A mixed method engraving published by Thomas Agnew 26 January 1844
